Established in 2010, BeaverFit emerged from a challenge presented by the British military to deliver outdoor training solutions capable of supporting personnel in any environment. That founding challenge continues to shape our work today as we expand capabilities across human performance, tactical and high security environments.
Based in Shropshire, we design and manufacture durable, mission-ready environments built to perform in demanding conditions. Combining practical engineering with purposeful design, we support defence, security and commercial partners with solutions they can rely on.
Our roots in steel fabrication and manufacturing begin in the UK with R.S. Beaver LTD in 1947, continuing with Beaver Bridges, founded by Jim Beaver in 2000. This family legacy of craftsmanship sets the stage for the founding of BeaverFit.
While training for the Enduroman Arch to Arc – an 87-mile run from London to the English Channel, a swim across the Channel, and a 180-mile bike ride to Paris – future BeaverFit founder Tom Beaver builds his first outdoor rig in the UK.
At the same time, future BeaverFit North America co-founders Alex Roodhouse and Mike Taylor meet while patrolling the Euphrates River in Iraq with the Navy’s Riverine Squadron One, the first brown-water Navy unit since Vietnam.
Just a stone’s throw from the Beaver family farm in Shropshire, Special Air Service teams from Hereford spend a day training on Tom’s unique outdoor rig – and immediately ask him to build one for them. With that request, BeaverFit UK is born.
Meanwhile, Mike and Alex complete their military service and take jobs in the private sector selling fitness gear to the U.S. military. Alex and Tom meet during a chance encounter in the UK and align on the enormous potential in creating unique fitness solutions for militaries worldwide.
As BeaverFit UK supplies outdoor training rigs to the British Army, the Army is tasked with securing London ahead of the 2012 Summer Olympics. In the rush of moving fitness equipment throughout the city, the BeaverFit team leans a wall-mounted rig against a shipping container – and just like that, the BeaverFit Container Gym is born.
Alex, Mike, Tom and Jim join forces to launch BeaverFit North America. The U.S. Marine Corps places a large order for container gyms to support their HITT program, and overnight BeaverFit becomes one of the largest providers of fitness equipment to the U.S. military.
Word of the unique and customizable equipment BeaverFit creates makes its way from the military to the private sector, as Google and numerous Fortune 100s seek out BeaverFit solutions. At the same time, BeaverFit introduces tactical training solutions, creating unique training environments for our most elite warriors.
BeaverFit is selected to supply the Army Fitness Test kit — the largest single acquisition of fitness equipment ever made by the DoD. The U.S. Army fields more than 2,000 Performance Lockers across the force, solidifying BeaverFit as the largest provider of human performance equipment to the U.S. military.
And through its support of NATO, BeaverFit becomes the world’s largest provider of fitness equipment to military forces — bar none.
Explosive commercial growth expands contract manufacturing for leading fitness brands. Simultaneously, BeaverFit adds design/build capabilities and delivers full-scale facilities and structures to both tactical and human performance customers.
BeaverFit officially unifies U.S. and UK branches into one global company to expand the mission, including subsidiaries in Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
And with the acquisition of Bastion, BeaverFit expands its defense and security capabilities — delivering mobile armories, SCIFs and secure containers in support of U.S. and NATO missions worldwide.
What began in support of defence has grown into a broader commitment: to advance the readiness and resilience of warfighters, and to strengthen the vitality of our nation and communities by redefining how and where people train.
