Enhancing soldier readiness with the BeaverDome
The British Army has always been at the forefront of innovation and development when it comes to enhancing the physical training and overall readiness of its soldiers. The latest addition to their arsenal is the BeaverFit BeaverDome, a state-of-the-art facility designed to revolutionise the training experience. The BeaverDome, coupled with the bespoke outdoor training rig, offers a diverse range of training options with the fully customisable interior. Utilising a range of equipment from BeaverFit Beast Racks, pull-up bars, sleds, climbing ropes, and a custom track, the soldiers can engage in a variety of challenging exercises that target strength, agility, endurance. This versatility ensures that soldiers can adapt to the physical demands of real-world scenarios effectively. The BeaverDome and outdoor training rig have been meticulously designed to provide soldiers with the means to engage in rigorous physical training, offering a wide range of challenging exercises and functional training equipment that target various aspects of fitness, ultimately leading to improved overall physical preparedness and enhanced combat effectiveness for our troops. With the ability to incorporate cardio-intensive activities such as running, circuit training, and interval training into their workout routine, the soldiers develop greater stamina, allowing them to sustain physical exertion for longer periods, which is vital in combat situations that require prolonged effort and resilience. However, strengthening the major muscle groups not only improves physical performance but also reduces the risk of injuries during demanding tasks in the field. Recovery and rehabilitation are of paramount importance within the military, as they play a crucial role in maintaining health, well-being, and operational readiness. The physical demands and high-stress environments that soldiers often face can result in injuries, fatigue, and mental strain. According to the Ministry of Defence’s annual health and safety report, as much as “61% of injuries occur in the troops’ training”, and if a serious enough injury, you may not be able to effectively serve during your contract, the military may choose to medically separate you instead. The BeaverDome’s modular and customisable design offers a unique advantage by allowing for the integration of recovery and rehabilitation rooms within its facilities. The BeaverDome and outdoor training rig go beyond conventional fitness facilities, offering soldiers the opportunity to engage in rigorous physical training. The combination of challenging exercises and functional equipment contributes to improvements in strength, endurance, flexibility, and overall fitness levels. By utilising these facilities regularly, soldiers can optimise their physical preparedness, ensuring they are ready to face the demanding and dynamic nature of their duties, ultimately enhancing their combat effectiveness. What are the environmental benefits of modular infrastructure over conventional construction techniques?
According to research conducted by University of Cambridge and Edinburgh Napier University academics, modular construction emits 45% less carbon than traditional methods because units are completed off-site in a controlled assembly line environment and taken to site in one delivery. It means that modular buildings require fewer carbon-intensive products like concrete and steel, and less transport for on-site workers and material deliveries. BeaverFit, industry leaders in the design and manufacture of modular outdoor fitness facilities, pledged to ensure that up to 96% of their modular builds are made entirely of recycled materials and renewable energy. Starting with the fully self-sufficient Strength and Conditioning Shelter at Bulford Barracks military base, this was a step into the future for the Field Army. BeaverFit partnered with ZeroAlpha Solutions to offer solar panels for the shelter, making this solution the first ever fully-sustainable fitness facility owned by the Armed Forces. “This is a genuine modern facility, built to provide the troops with what they need to ensure their physical health and wellbeing, both in terms of what we do in the barracks and around the world. This is a real opportunity and a great asset to the British Army.” – Major General Neil Thorpe The outdoor fitness set-up for the University of Edinburgh is highly sustainable in their use of custom-branded ISO containers. The University has maximised their offering to their students by utilising their otherwise unused space. Installed on the 100m sprint track between Peffermill’s two international water-based hockey pitches, the Peffermill Outdoor Gym offers multiple functional fitness stations and an array of premium equipment. “Our exciting new Outdoor Gym provision at Peffermill serves as a beacon for innovation in sports conditioning, but also what can be achieved through the power of partnership. University of Sport and Exercise is thrilled to join forces with market leaders PLAE and Beaverfit in making this hugely exciting gym venture come alive – our Peffermill users will love it.” – Jim Aitken MBE, Director of Sport + Exercise, University of Edinburgh BeaverFit has a subsidiary firm called BeaverFit Special Operations Equipment that provides law enforcement and the MOD with modular, containerised, and deployable tactical training facilities. Offering a range of ISO and Modular Armouries from low-security storage to Government MFES approved and blast resistant. These portable solutions offer the highest level of protection in an easily relocatable and deployable system. As a part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, BeaverFit creates modular infrastructures that can be relocated, repurposed and reused multiple times, enabling us to supply some of the most ecological facilities that support climate control and lower our environmental impact. BeaverFit x REORG: Supporting Our Soldiers
At the start of 2020, Beaverfit partnered with REORG, a UK based charity, to aid them in their mission to support personnel who have left active service, through the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). CEO and Founder Sam Sheriff, (along with Trustees Mark Ormrod, Tom Hardy and Trent Scanlen) are embarking on an ambitious plan to help thousands of people. When service personnel transition out of the military, they leave behind a life of structure, purpose and camaraderie. For many former service personnel this can be a very difficult time, especially if they are also suffering the after-effects of physical and psychological trauma, which is the case for all too many of them. Royal Marine’s C/Sgt Sam Sheriff started REORG to give drive and purpose to those that suffer this struggle. BeaverFit was born in 2010 through a challenge from the British Military and we have worked closely with them and militaries all over the world, ever since. We chose to support REORG as we are involved so heavily in the training of serving military personnel, we wanted to be a part of supporting those same people, even when they have left. To support our veterans, we manufacture three bespoke BeaverFit | REORG Racks that can be purchased through the REORG website. Garage Rack Home Gym Starter Home Gym Advanced We support by donating a percentage of each purchase. Each Rack is beautifully dual branded, and made bespoke for REORG.

Outdoor Fitness: Is it taking over the industry?
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw a rise in outdoor exercise, home gyms and banana bread. Now that gyms and sports clubs are on the verge of reopening, BeaverFit are still yet to see a drop in the interest of home gym set ups. Given the opportunity to embrace the great outdoors and adapt to a different form of functional fitness – people have found the benefits of working out from home. Over 42% of people interviewed in the West Midlands, stated that they have saved enough money throughout lockdown to build their own home gym. BeaverFit, global leader in the design and manufacturing of gym equipment and training facilities – have found that people much prefer working out – outside, even in the unpredictable British weather. Outdoor fitness also has a greater effect on mental and physical well-being, as well as being rated considerably more restorative compared to indoor exercise. This is due to the element of nature being scientifically proven to reduce emotional and physiological stress. So, what can your gym do to improve member retention? Taking the industry by storm with innovation and forward thinking is The Shrewsbury Club. In late 2020, BeaverFit installed two modern FOB lockers with an overhead canopy and conventional gym flooring – this has given The Shrewsbury Club the ability to offer their members an outdoor fitness facility, prior to the official reopening of gyms and facilitators. Increasing their membership enquiries and creating extra value for all current and new members. This creative outdoor setup has provided The Shrewsbury Club with a facility to host all day exercise classes, no matter the weather. Alongside this, there is a safe and secure storage unit to keep all necessary equipment needed to host these outdoor classes. To make an enquiry about setting up your own outdoor fitness set up, please email Chris Pike at [email protected]– or download our commercial brochure here.
