Don’t Suffer in Silence – BeaverFit supports Glenn Osinski OBE and Michael Coates in their Sled Marathon for Suicide Awareness

222

‘Strength is hidden amongst the long silence of the suffering heart’ 1 in 6 people report experiencing mental health problems. From anxiety and depression, through to PTSD – mental health can effect anyone, at any time and any age. BeaverFit Business Development Manager and Ex Warrant Officer Glenn Osinski, took part in a gruelling 26.2 mile Sled Marathon at Manor Gym, partnered with Michael Coates. Throughout this challenge, Glenn and Michael remained in complete silence, whilst pushing and pulling a 75KG BeaverFit Sled. The two completed the challenge in 20hrs 26mins, pushing through their thoughts and demonstrating both physical and mental strength, something of which many struggle with on a daily basis. ’This activity was important to both Michael and I. It was to symbolise a day in the life of someone close to suicide. We wanted to suffer in silence and raise money and awareness so that others didn’t have to’ said Glenn. ‘We kept each other going throughout. There’s a well known quote…”The body can stand almost anything, but it’s the mind you have to convince” Sharing that hardship together was incredible, but those suffering in silence don’t have that someone to rely on. We did it for them. A message from our Co-founder ‘As a symbolisation of the struggles and hardships faced everyday by people, BeaverFit are following this activity with a reflection on how powerful and sometimes detrimental it can be to remain in your own thoughts.’ Tom Beaver. BeaverFit endeavour to hold and maintain a positive working environment, with exercises such as monthly marathons and social activities outside of work, to ensure we are all having that opportunity to ‘talk to someone’. BeaverFit sponsored and supported an ex-Para’s mission to run the 250km Moroccan Marathon des Sables,  in an endeavour to  raise money for SUPPORT OUR PARAS and mental health awareness. BeaverFits strong relationship with the military, encourages us to support veterans in a variety of ways. From our dominant charity REORG, to our friends struggling to adapt to a civilian lifestyle – we aspire to give back to those who served. Jonny Mortimer Hendry, now at DEA Aviation, served within the British Army Parachute Regiment for seven years including tours in Afghanistan. On his return he battled mental health issues including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and was keen to raise awareness of growing mental health issues particularly during the pandemic. The 250km Marathon des Sables takes place from 25 March to 4th April 2022 in the Moroccan Sahara desert and is one of the toughest foot races in the world. You have to carry all your kit and equipment and the only resupply you have is water. Jonny decided to set a world record attempt of being the first person to complete the marathon whilst wearing 10kg of body armour. Jonny Mortimer Hendry comments: “When you go to war you wear body armour to protect you against bombs and bullets, but nothing protects your mind. I am running the Marathon des Sables to make a very clear visual statement about soldiers’ and veterans’ mental health and to encourage others to seek help to overcome their battles.“ “Whilst serving in the Parachute regiment I was involved in incidents that I struggled to process on my return and with the help of Support Our Paras I was able to find therapy and get my life back on track.” Tom Beaver: “At BeaverFit, we pride ourselves in the likeminded initiative to support our vets, Johnny is a good friend and a determined individual. We are extremely proud to support the mission and will continue to offer our continual efforts in all of his endeavours.” Watch the video of Jonny’s preparation for the Marathon below   Jonnys Support Team Martin Hewitt, former British Army Officer, mountaineer and charity co-founder Levison Wood, a world-renowned explorer, photographer, best-selling author and documentary producer Johnny Neil, former member of the elite pathfinder platoon and owner of media company, Provideo Companies Supporting Jonny BeaverFit UK NP Aerospace Edgar Brothers Firepot SUPPORT OUR PARAS  SUPPORT OUR PARAS supports Paras in The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces through the welfare of veterans, serving soldiers and their families and widows, and through the maintenance of its regimental efficiency, ethos, spirit and heritage. Revolutionising weapons storage – BeaverFit ISO + Modular Armouries

Armourynorthumbriapolice 1

Towards the end of 2021, BeaverFit Special Operations designed, manufactured and installed a 20ft Container Armoury to allow the client to extend their current infrastructure which was at full capacity. It featured Government Approved walling and ceiling, alarm systems, secure weapon and ammunition storage and integrated electrical infrastructure.    We installed RAUFOSS Reconfigurable Weapons Racking, which has allowed the Armoury to be suitable for a range of different sized weapons, as the holsters can be altered to suit. This again, created a more sustainable and reliable solution.   Containerised Armouries have become increasingly popular and favoured over traditional infrastructure as they come with a host of additional benefits such as being relocatable, more cost and time-effective, easy to install and very quick commissioning.   BeaverFit offer various High Security Container Solutions, including Armouries, Ammunition Storage, SCIF’s (Secure Compartmented Information Facilities) and Secure Buildings, to allow our clients the freedom and flexibility to create, extend or improve their facility in a way that suits them, with fully customisable options available. David Lloyd were quick to realise this and so created their ‘bootcamp-style classes’ designed around a dedicated outdoor facility – The ‘Battlebox’. Each ‘Battlebox’ consisted of external rigging, rope climbing towers and wall-ball targets, as well as internal storage for accessories and attachments to facilitate the wide variety of ‘Battlebox Classes’ that David Lloyd offer, while keeping all equipment secure and protected from the elements when not in use. Our solutions have created a ‘state-of-the-art’ outdoor training facility at each location and has allowed David Lloyd to offer their unique ‘Battlebox Classes’ across more sites. Due to the fast turnaround provided by BeaverFit, it has helped David Lloyd to stay current with the latest fitness trends and requirements, as well as maintaining their brand image, through offering industry-leading facilities. BeaverFit x REORG: Supporting Our Soldiers

B0050f41 0285 415b 8e5b 4c8f831d2742

At the start of 2020, Beaverfit partnered with REORG, a UK based charity, to aid them in their mission to support personnel who have left active service, through the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). CEO and Founder Sam Sheriff, (along with Trustees Mark Ormrod, Tom Hardy and Trent Scanlen) are embarking on an ambitious plan to help thousands of people. When service personnel transition out of the military, they leave behind a life of structure, purpose and camaraderie. For many former service personnel this can be a very difficult time, especially if they are also suffering the after-effects of physical and psychological trauma, which is the case for all too many of them. Royal Marine’s C/Sgt Sam Sheriff started REORG to give drive and purpose to those that suffer this struggle. BeaverFit was born in 2010 through a challenge from the British Military and we have worked closely with them and militaries all over the world, ever since. We chose to support REORG as we are involved so heavily in the training of serving military personnel, we wanted to be a part of supporting those same people, even when they have left. To support our veterans, we manufacture three bespoke BeaverFit | REORG Racks that can be purchased through the REORG website. Garage Rack Home Gym Starter Home Gym Advanced We support by donating a percentage of each purchase. Each Rack is beautifully dual branded, and made bespoke for REORG.

BeaverFit made, fully sustainable Strength and Conditioning Shelter – A step into the future for Bulford Military Base

Bulfordmilitarystrengthandconditioningshelteroutsideview

Bulford Army Base in Salisbury, welcomes the first of many, outdoor Strength and Conditioning Shelters for the British Army.  At the beginning of 2021, the British Army released a public tender, requiring a selection of Strength and Conditioning Shelters for camps around the UK. BeaverFit specialise in the design and manufacture of fitness equipment, container gyms and tactical training solutions – making us the strongest candidate in the delivery of this project.   This large facility is the peak of innovation, set to introduce a new form of training for the troops that enables them to train in the elements. This ensures that they are mentally and physically prepared for weather variations when out on deployment and helps to avoid musculoskeletal injuries while also boosting their mental adaptation. BeaverFit partnered with ZeroAlpha Solutions to offer solar panels for the shelter, making this solution the first ever fully-sustainable fitness facility owned by the Armed Forces.  ‘This is a genuine modern facility, built to provide the troops with what they need to ensure their physical health and wellbeing, both in terms of what we do in the barracks and around the world. This is a real opportunity and a great asset to the British Army.’ – Major General Neil Thorpe As 2021 progresses, we will see an increasing number of BeaverFit Strength and Conditioning Shelters starting their construction, enrolling a variety of progressing soldiers onto the next steps of their health and fitness development. Suicide Awareness Month at BeaverFit UK

Suicideawarenesscupcakesjpg

People often spend a large portion of their day at a workplace and, in doing so, get to know other employees over time. As a result, they may be in a good position to notice changes in behaviour that could suggest risk of suicide or mental health problems. With our employees spending over 1/3 of their life in a place of work, it is our responsibility to ensure that they are offered support and respect, both physically and mentally. BeaverFit have a dominant presence in the provisions of fitness equipment for the military and so the consideration of suicide prevention and mental health awareness is of utmost importance, with 6,435 veteran adults committing suicide in 2018. For the past 12 years, suicide rates have been consistently higher among veterans than nonveterans. Furthermore, since 2005, the suicide rate has risen faster among veterans than it has for nonveteran adults. BeaverFit UK and BeaverFit North America comprise of a team made up of veterans, ex-sports personnel and civilians – all deserving of support and acknowledgment in their life beyond the workplace. What do we do to support our employees? Here at BeaverFit UK, we boast an environment of warm and welcoming attitudes, a small family – if you will. As the business grows, so does the team… By welcoming movements such as Suicide Awareness Month into the workplace, we have encouraged a handful of staff to become Mental Health First Aid trained, helping us to identify warning signs in the mental wellbeing of our employees. Alongside this, we encourage outdoor exercise with our Monthly Marathon, which allows us to embrace nature, get away from our desks and get to know one another on a personal level – a strategic bonding exercise. This Suicide Awareness Month, our Marketing and HR team have collaboratively approached the movement with the idea of a random act of kindness. They hand-delivered a Suicide Awareness cupcake to each individual team member and educated the team on the signs and what to look out for in their monthly company meeting, whilst also pointing out the Mental Health First Aiders. As a company, it is our responsibility to ensure the mental health and wellbeing of our employees, offering support and guidance in reward of their hard work and dedication.  It’s okay, not to be okay.
